Information About The Great Dane
When thinking about giant dogs, the great Dane is the first one that comes to mind. That’s logical as their size is what they are known for. Their gentle personality is also their trademark as great Danes are known as one of the few dog breeds that get along with other dogs, other non-canine pets, and humans. They are great guard dogs, very loyal to their owners, and are not known to pick fights with any creature be it animal or human. Like any dog, they can get aggressive and chase small animals, but that is not typical behavior.
The great Dane is definitely a dog that needs to be around people. Great Dane information tells us that they are known as the “gentle giant.” Their temperament is one of a dignified, kind, sweet and affectionate nature and they love being around people to play with and love on. They are very dependable dogs with a very responsible nature. Because of their great size, great Dane information teaches us to train them at a young age to be obedient so that you can manage them when they are full grown. The full grown great Dane can be up to 34 inches tall and weigh up to 200 pounds. The great Dane could easily injure a small child because of their great size which is why training them from a young age is imperative. They also need to be taught their place in the pack. All dogs view the family they live in as their “pack” and the great Dane needs to be taught that although great in size, his place is not as the leader as you are the leader. If you can train them to know this from a young age, they will grow up knowing to behave when you speak.
Great Dane information can be found all over the internet. Some of the information about their origin tells us that coins dating back to 36 B.C. have a dog engraved on them that looks very similar to the great Danes we know today so they could date back that far. A group of people known as the Alans owned giant dogs that were eventually bred with greyhounds, and that is how we got the great Danes that we know today. They are very skilled as watchdogs, tracking dogs, and carting dogs, but are also wonderful pets as they love people.
